Boy George performed his song “We Will Dance Again” in public for the first time at a Vancouver shul — the slogan carried by survivors of the Nova music festival massacre of October 7.
During the performance, the audience cheered after the lyrics, “I stand with the Jews.”
Together we are not just here for the music — we are holding space to remember. He made this song from grief, and turned it into a promise: that we will all dance again, in peace. For Nova.
We gathered in the CultYourVibe listening room to hear Boy George’s “We Will Dance Again” together. The wait was longer than we expected, but the room filled with conversation, encouragement and a little gentle humour. Waiting together became part of the memory.
When the song finally arrived, we shared a moment of remembrance through the music. Thank you to everyone who joined us and brought warmth and kindness to the room. If you were there, or if the song has touched you, you’re welcome to share what the experience meant to you below.
A special thank you to Jo Solar, our song scout, for helping moderate the room and for the time and care she puts into spotting and counting new songs by hand. Every tally reflects her own listening and attention.

In a report for The Telegraph, journalist Nicole Lampert explores the response to “We Will Dance Again” and George’s determination to continue expressing his support for Jewish people through his music.
The report traces the song’s inspiration to his visit to the Nova exhibition in London, where he met survivor May Hayat. It describes personal and professional fallout following the song’s release on social media, drawing on accounts from George, his manager Paul Kemsley and friends. Kemsley expresses pride in George’s commitment to his beliefs.
With the single’s wider release approaching, this coverage adds context to the song we shared in our listening room. Our community remains a space for remembrance, compassion and respectful conversation.
